under the leadership of Dr. Shelby M. Elliott, president.
Securing a strong leadership position for the future

on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education,
which is approved by the U.S. Department of Education,

TCC
is coeducational and admits students from foreign countries
as well as the United States. It is the third oldest

practicing in at least 46 states and 10 countries. The
college welcomes men and women who demonstrate the maturity
needed to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes
expected of portal of entry health care providers.
Texas
Chiropractic College has been regarded as a pioneer
in chiropractic education. TCC was the first chiropractic
college in the world to offer a hospital rotations program,
and it is still one of the very few chiropractic colleges
worldwide offering a hospital rotations program to chiropractic
students. TCC interns have been rotating through major
hospitals in the Texas Medical Center - the largest
medical center in the world - since 1986. They participate
in rotations in the fields of orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery,
anesthesiology, family medicine, industrial and aerospace
medicine, osteopathy, sports medicine, spine research,
physical medicine and rehabilitation, rheumatology,
and psychiatry, with more fields being added each year.
Occupying
an 18-acre campus, the college's physical plant houses
classrooms, laboratories and library facilities, faculty
and administrative offices, educational and student
support services and a new, 18,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art
health center for internship training and public use.
The facility, named the Moody Health Center after Robert
L. Moody of the Moody Foundation in Galveston, TX, is
the only total health care facility in Pasadena. It
offers services in chiropractic care, family medicine,
internal medicine, acupuncture, dermatology and cardiology.
TCC
presents a comprehensive course of professional instruction
in the basic and clinical sciences and in chiropractic
clinical practice leading to the degree of Doctor of
Chiropractic. This prepares the graduate as a portal
of entry health care practitioner who functions effectively
as a member of the health care team. The college includes
undergraduate professional preparation, as well, through
its Bachelor of Science in Human Biology degree, which
provides the foundation for advanced degree study and
research.
Attracting
the brightest and best-qualified students has always
been a priority for the college. Its recent trimester
one classes have had a cumulative grade point average
of over 3.0. And, beginning with the Spring 2002 trimester,
accelerated science courses are being offered to students
pursuing allied health careers, providing a convenient
segue into the study of chiropractic medicine.
Texas
Chiropractic College is committed to carrying out its
mission, not only in the areas of undergraduate chiropractic
education, but also in addressing issues of the profession
by offering courses in postgraduate and continuing education.
Research is also an integral part of TCC's educational
processes. Additionally, the college promotes health
education and community service by providing quality
health care services through public clinical programs.
