WHY AN ODETTE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
MBA?
The business community demands excellent from its leaders.
That same demand for excellence also drives the mission
of the Odette School of Business MBA programs: educating
tomorrow's business leaders. Our highly integrated core
curriculum, which demonstrates the leading edge of best
management practice worldwide, stresses the inter-relationship
among the various functional areas of business and the changing
economic environment.
Our
MBA brings students face-to-face with a first-class, comprehensive
business education in a friendly and supportive campus environment.
Our program combines academic knowledge, practical skills
and meaningful work experience to produce management generalists
prepared to assume challenging and changing roles in today's
global workplace.
Our strategic
location on the Canada/United States border provides access
to the social cultural and athletic events of Detroit, Michigan,
a major U.S. city, while Windsor offers the cultural diversity
and charm of a small historic Canadian city.
THE PROGRAMS
The quality and variety of our programs distinguish the
Odette School of Business MBA. Our innovative co-op (work-study)
option allows university graduates from non-business fields
to complete their degree in two years while gaining essential
work place experience. Holders of an honours business degree
may choose the "fast-track" option and complete their MBA
in one year. Part-time students bring a special set of skills
and experience to the program, and are encouraged to meet
with a faculty mentor to design a time efficient program
that is custom made for their needs.
Our Co-op MBA boasts high post-graduation employment. Co-op
students gain valuable work experience and employer contacts
while completing their degree. Our border location also
means enhanced research and field placement opportunities.
First-year class sizes are limited to guarantee low student-faculty
ratios and foster interactive team-oriented learning, a
major focus of our program.
Our professors have broad teaching and business/consulting
experience in countries around the globe, have written textbooks,
business simulations, and case studies used by many business
schools and industry, and have published widely in major
journals in North America and beyond.
An international perspective, which addresses such issues
as the environment, ethics and diversity, is integrated
into the curriculum. Working in groups, students learn by
doing - through case studies, group projects, co-op placements
and community involvement, and hone vital skills in real
work research, communication analysis and problem solving.;
FOCUS OF THE PROGRAMS
Academic
Knowledge - Leading-edge concepts and practices are taught
in an integrated fashion. The goal is to provide students
with a clear understanding of the operation of successful
businesses.
Practical Skills - Teamwork and effective communication
skills have been identified by employers as critical in
today's environment. Training and practice in these areas
begins in the first semester. Numerous workshops are offered
to upgrade students' skills in resume writing, interviewing,
presentation techniques and computer developments.
Work Experience - The Odette School of Business MBA provides
opportunities to obtain relevant business experience. Co-op
MBA students participate in two paid work terms. Regular
MBAs and fast-track MBAs have the opportunity to gain valuable
work experience at the Business Resource Centre, and through
other community/industry involvements.
