Laurentian University is a safe, high-quality, friendly university. Over its 40-year history, Laurentian has adopted a personal and dedicated approach to education and learning. With approximately 4,000 students, and more than 250 professors, Laurentian offers some of the best student teacher ratios in Ontario. Laurentian University challenges students, allowing them to sort through their ideas and gain a better understanding of the world around them. It offers students abundant opportunities for study, research, travel and work, and equips them for the road ahead by helping them to learn to think rationally and independently.

The University and our student residences are located on a beautiful 750 acre campus between three lakes, a golf course, and a nature reserve. Laurentian combines a Canadian urban experience with the great Canadian outdoors, in a multicultural environment that includes vibrant Native and Franco-Ontarian cultures. Set among the lakes, trees and rocks of the Canadian mid-North, Laurentian even has its own beach and a resident red fox on campus!

We offer quality undergraduate programs in the professional schools, sciences and engineering, the social sciences and the humanities. We also offer a number of high-quality master's programs, where international students are welcome as well. Laurentian is bilingual, which means that you can study here in both English and French, and in addition it offers a number of programs in Native Studies. The Laurentian University system includes three Federated, religious colleges (the University of Sudbury (Roman Catholic), Huntington University (United Church) and Thorneloe University (Anglican)) that have their own student residences.

Laurentian University is located in the City of Greater Sudbury, a city of 150,000 residents, the major urban centre of Northeastern Ontario, four hours from Toronto by car. The University is located close to a world-class Science Centre and other amenities, such as hospitals and shopping centres.
