Why study at a distance?
There are many advantages to distance learning but students say flexibility is top of the list. Most find it provides them with the opportunity to combine study with other responsibilities such as family and work and/or travel commitments. Many distance learners also choose this method of study because they cannot, or do not, want to leave their own country and their family and friends.
The University of London's External Programme was established in 1858 to meet the needs of students who could not come to London. It is the longest-running programme of its kind and offers over 50 postgraduate degrees and diplomas, as well as more than 30 qualifications at undergraduate level. You work at your own pace and can study anytime, anywhere. The External Programme offers qualifications in the following subject areas:

A degree of quality
If you choose to study with the University of London you will join the largest, and one of the oldest universities in Britain. It was founded in 1836 and is now a federation of 20 Colleges and Institutes, some multi-faculty and others smaller, more specialised institutions. Together they combine to make up a university of international renown with a first class reputation for the quality of its research and teaching. A University of London degree is held in high esteem by employers and educational institutions worldwide. Altogether over 120,000 students come to the UK to study at the University and over 36,000 study at a distance through its External Programme. External students are examined to the same high and rigorous standards as Internal students. Regardless of the mode of study, all graduates - whether Internal or External - are awarded a University of London degree.
