Apply for a scholarship to study engineering, architecture and industrial design at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy

The Politecnico di Milano Technical University offers a top-level education through an experience both pleasant and intellectually fulfilling.

Established in 1863 in Milan, it is one of the leading technical universities in Europe and is the largest institution in Italy for Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design, with about 42,000 students enrolled in its various study programmes (of which about 800 PhD students).

Its premises are spread over seven campuses in the north of Italy, one of the most densely populated and highly industrialized areas in Europe. This “Politecnico Network” builds up a distributed university model, which provides for more direct relationships with the students and for better interactions with local communities and
private companies.

The Politecnico di Milano is organized in 17 departments devoted to research and a network of 9 Schools of Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design devoted to education.

Its eminent professors over the years have included Giulio Natta (Nobel Prize for having invented the polypropylene) Giuseppe Colombo (developer of Italy’s Edison Company), Gino Cassinis and Ercole Bottani (founders of the first European center for electronic computation) and architects Giò Ponti and Marco Zanuso.

Its graduates include Govanni Battista Pirelli (the founder of the rubber manufacturing company), Enrico Forlanini (inventor of helicopter and hydroplane) prominent architects and designers such as Renzo Piano and Achille Castiglioni and
the writer Carlo Emilio Gadda.
