What is the TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test?
The TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests measure proficiency in English language speaking and writing skills. The test is designed to measure a person's ability to communicate in spoken English in the context of daily life and the global workplace.

Do I need a high level of English ability to take the test?
The range of ability of English learners who will take the TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test is expected to be broad, both very proficient speakers and writers and speakers and writers of limited ability can take the test.
The test is designed to proved information about language ability to speakers and writers across a range of language proficiency levels.
Where and when is the TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test administered?
The TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests will be administered on fixed dates at secure Internet-based centres. Contact your local ETC Preferred Vendor for specific test dates.

How is the TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test scored?
Test responses are sent to ETS's Online Scoring Network (OSN), where they are scored by certified ETS test raters.
Speaking Test Scores
- Questions 1-9 are rated on a scale of 0-3
- Questions 1-11 are rated on a scale of 0-5
- Sum of all ratings is converted to a scaled score of 0-200
Writing Test Scores
- Questions 1-5 are rated on a scale of 0-3
- Questions 6-7 are rated on a scale of 0-4
- Question 8 is rated on a scale of 0-5
- Sum of all ratings is converted to a scaled score of 0-200
The scaled score indicates your overall performance on each of the tests. The scaled score for each of the tests can range from 0 - 200 in increments of 10.
There are 8 proficiency levels for the Speaking test and 9 proficiency levels for the Writing test.
The proficiency levels correspond to a scaled score range and describe the types of general skills and proficiencies in spoken or written English that are common for most people who have achieved a score similar to yours.

How long does it take to receive scores?
Scores arrive in 3 to 4 weeks. Contact your ETS Preferred Vendor for more information.
How long is my score valid for?
ETS keep your score on record for 2 years after the test date.
