Leaving soggy London behind our exhibition team headed to a much warmer part of the world - Morocco.
The African Education Summit 2011 took place in Rabat, Morocco from 12th – 13th July. Morocco was chosen to host the summit due to its relevant experience in the education sector.
Drawing on the knowledge of universities worldwide the African Education Summit provided educational professionals the chance to discuss the ways of helping Africa meet the educational needs of a growing population.
Issues relating to education infrastructure and the use of information communication technology (ICT) were at the heart of all discussions. The opening ceremony highlighted the efforts of African nations to spread the use of ICT in society through the use of structural programmes. With the overall goal to eliminate illiteracy through the use of ICT, the programmes will aim to equip 3,000 schools and universities with multimedia and Internet facilities, as well as train 150,000 teachers.
The African Education Summit was a very interesting and enjoyable event and we are looking forward to seeing the development of these programmes in the coming years.
