Interview
with the President of ASEH
The
Swiss Hotel Schools Association (ASEH) was founded
in 1986 and regroups 15 leading, specialized
schools, all located in Switzerland, the birthplace
of tourism and of Hotel Management Colleges,
offering different programs from Certificate
to Master Degrees. The Swiss hotel schools are
among the best hotel schools in the world, and
will enable you to experience focused education
in a multicultural environment, in English,
French, German or Italian.
The top five hospitality schools in
Switzerland:
15
hotel management schools are represented in
our association, but there is no ranking as
all schools have completed the accreditation
procedure and fulfilled our strict membership
criteria. Therefore, there is no 'better' school
as each one has its own particularities and
all are of the highest quality.

If
I was an international student, what school
would you recommend to study at in the German
section?
If
students would like to study in German, we recommend
that they study at one of the following schools,
accredited by ASEH:
However,
for international students who would like to
have an international career, we recommend that
they study in English.
What
sort of qualifications is recognized in the
industry?
The
hospitality industry requires a blend of individual
competences, such as leadership, professional
and management skills as well as work experience.
The differences between Diploma, Bachelor and
Master studies will influence the career advancements
of our graduates, since most of the former students
will start their career in operational positions.
Is
a diploma enough to find work in the industry
and if the answer is yes, what are the benefits,
else why would it be important to carry on further?
Careers
of our graduates include a wide section of positions
in the services, tourism and hospitality industry,
the largest economic activity in the world.
The programs offered at our member schools are
very diverse and different. It is up to the
students to compare all parameters and find
out which school would suit them the best, depending
on the program, the language of instruction,
their ambitions and the goals they have fixed
for their future career.
A diploma, which offers the right mix between
practical training and academic education, will
enable our graduates to follow a career in a
small to medium size company and to be mostly
focused on operational functions.
On the other hand, a Bachelor or Master degree
will enable our graduates to reach top positions
in a large company, according to the complexity
of the company and the professional skills of
the person, or to manage their own business.
Here is the list of ASEH member schools
offering studies at a diploma level:
