Meeting challenges

Managers, especially those pursuing international careers, face a number of business challenges: working across cultures, working in teams, managing long-distance relationships, etc. With the Euro*MBA, participants can combine their job responsibilities with a flexible educational programme that allows them to meet current and future international challenges more effectively.

A mixture of residential and e-learning

The two-year Euro*MBA programme offers a mixture of e-learning and residential weeks. Participants can work on the 10 e-learning courses at their own pace. The residential weeks, in six European cities, occur every four months. During these weeks, participants visit businesses and governmental agencies, as well as studying subjects specifically related to the region. This mixture of residential and distance education allows participants to combine flexible learning with real-world experience: the best of both worlds.

A varied curriculum

The Euro*MBA features a wide range of e-learning courses: from international management to innovation technology to European corporate law. Practical experience is gained through regular group assignments, business simulation game, change management project and an individual master thesis. But nothing teaches like the first-hand experience gained during residential weeks. Experiences in cities like St. Petersburg, still reeling from the effects of the 1998 economic crisis, Barcelona, where the societal and political upheavals since World War II still profoundly impact business today and Maastricht, the spiritual home of the European Union.

A multicultural approach

The multicultural roots of the Euro*MBA run deep. Alumni and students hail from Australia and Italy; Germany and Japan and numerous points in between. They learn from working cross-culturally on group projects and from lectures by professors representing a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds-thereby gaining skills and experiences to enhance their international career.

International network

Euro*MBA alumni also profit from an international alumni network long after they have completed the programme. For a continued broad knowledge base and multicultural perspective that can give them the inside track on international business issues.
The alumni association is very active. It's mission: to facilitate and stimulate connections within the Euro*MBA environment that enrich the personal and professional lives of its members.
Darlene Brown MBA, President of the Euro*MBA Alumni Association about their activities in 2002-2003: 'Our main activities for this year will be focused on our selected Topic of the Year: entrepreneurship in a changing Europen Environment. To elaborate the topic we organise a round table discussion between economists, academics and politicians and start research activities. The research activities concentrate on article reading, analysis of business models and reviews amongst students and alumni who started their own business. Furthermore, we start working with career counsellors and we organise not only a big alumni event but also regional activities in for example Germany, France, The Netherlands and Spain. And of course we organise the Alumni Event in one of the Residential Weeks together with the Euro*MBA consortium. The Alumni Association is a real international lively network.'

The latest IT infrastructure

The Euro*MBA is based on Lotus Notes Group Ware. This allows participants to maintain effective communications and efficiently work on group projects with co-participants around the world. The infrastructure also lets participants receive on-line tutoring and notification of programme initiatives, and gives them access to a virtual library. This flexible IT-infrastructure supports them as they study when and where they want.
