Overview
Strayer University is a private institution with 14 campuses in Washington,
D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. Founded as Strayer's Business College in Baltimore,
Maryland, in 1892, Strayer began operations in Washington, D.C. in 1904.
Strayer's mission
is to provide students of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds an information
technology and business-oriented education. A corollary mission is to
offer educational programs which reflect the changing demands of business,
industry, and government-local, national, and international. Within its
mission, the University provides educational and student support services,
as well as cultural and recreational opportunities, to over 12,000 undergraduate
and graduate students.
Strayer offers full-time
and part-time study at competitive rates to serve the needs of its students.
It attracts students throughout the United States and around the world.
The strength of Strayer's information technology and business-oriented
curricula also attracts students of various ages, many of whom are adults
working in the business world. Over the years, Strayer has become an important
educational and cultural center, in the Washington
Metropolitan area and beyond, offering programs and services that meet
the needs of its diverse student population.
Strayer University
is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Schools, recognized by the U.S. Secretary
of Education.
