Strayer University Undergraduate Programs

Strayer University provides a variety of programs at two levels: degree and diploma. Programs provide employable skills at various levels as students progress through a course of study. The structure of the curriculum provides a progression from Diploma to Associate´s to Bachelor´s to Master´s degree with minimum loss of credit, as students upgrade their educational and professional objectives.

Bachelor of Science Degree Programs
Accounting - The principal objectives of the four-year program in accounting are to provide the student with a broad, fundamental knowledge of the field and to prepare the student for employment in accounting careers. During the third and fourth years, the student seeking the BS degree in accounting may exercise an individual option, through the selection of elective courses, which will allow him/her to prepare for professional goals such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA). Strayer also offers a Master of Science degree, a two-year Associate in Arts degree, and a diploma program in accounting.

Business Administration - The Bachelor of Science program in business administration is designed to prepare graduates for a wide range of managerial positions in business, government, and non-profit organizations. Students majoring in business administration will be taught the fundamentals as well as the practices and professional requirements of all phases of business and acquire skills in decision-making and problem-solving. Strayer also offers a Master of Science degree and a two-year Associate in Arts degree in business administration.

Computer Information Systems - Strayer offers a four-year Bachelor of Science program in computer information systems. State-of-the-art computer concepts and programming languages prepare individuals for systems analyst and management positions. Strayer also offers a Master of Science degree, a two-year Associate in Arts degree, and a twelve-month diploma program in computer information systems.

Computer Networking - State-of-the-art networking concepts and design prepare individuals for positions as network administrators, network systems engineers, or managers. Strayer also offers a two-year Associate in Arts degree in Computer Networking and a twelve-month diploma program in computer information systems with a networking emphasis.

Economics - The primary objective of the Bachelor of Science program in economics is to provide the student with a broad and fundamental knowledge of economic principles and policies. A major in economics is excellent preparation for employment in business and/or government. Additionally, individuals are well prepared for graduate programs in the fields of management, business, law, and other fields related to economics. Strayer also offers a two-year Associate in Arts degree in economics.

International Business - The Bachelor of Science program in international business is designed to provide a new generation of professionals in the public and private sectors with an understanding of international business, marketing, finance, and trade around the globe. Students majoring in international business will be taught to analyze policy and manage business opportunities in today's increasingly integrated world economy. Courses emphasize fundamental business skills while employing contemporary case studies of global corporations.

Associate in Arts Degree Programs
Accounting - The Associate in Arts degree prepares an accounting student to be a bookkeeper, an accounts receivable or payable clerk, or other entry-level positions in business. The graduate of the Associate in Arts program may apply all the credits earned toward a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Strayer also offers a diploma program in accounting.

Acquisition and Contract Management - This two-year Associates in Arts degree in acquisition and contract management is designed to provide current and relevant knowledge of contract management principles and policies. The program prepares students for careers in contract management positions in the corporate world and government agencies. Graduates of this program may apply all the credits earned toward a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Business Administration - The Associate in Arts degree program in business administration is designed to provide the latest information and technology in the field of management to prepare students for careers in business and government. The graduate of the Associate in Arts program may apply all the credits earned toward a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Computer Information Systems - This two-year Associate in Arts degree program in computer information systems seeks to prepare the individual for programmer/analyst positions. This program allows the student to explore state-of-the-art programming languages and concepts. Graduates of this program may apply all the credits earned toward a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems.

Computer Networking - Students in this two-year Associate in Arts degree program will explore the design, technical, and administrative issues associated with developing networking systems. Theoretical and practical aspects of designing and developing networking systems and applying technical solutions are explored. Graduates of this program may apply all the credits earned toward a Bachelor of Science degree in computer networking.

Economics - The two-year Associate in Arts degree in economics is designed to provide current and relevant knowledge of economic principles and policies. It prepares students for careers in financial institutions, the corporate world, and government agencies. The graduate of the Associate in Arts program may apply all the credits earned toward a Bachelor of Science degree in economics.

General Studies - The liberal arts or general studies program allows students to explore virtually all areas of the curriculum. It is for the student who may be uncertain about choosing a major area of study. The student has the most flexibility in selecting courses within this program and, by planning carefully and consulting with an academic advisor, may tailor his/her studies at the University to meet individual interests and transfer credits toward more advanced work.

Marketing -The marketing program seeks to prepare the student for careers in all aspects of marketing, from the small sole proprietorship to the large corporation. Students wishing to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree can combine the AA program in marketing with the BS program in business administration.

Diploma Programs
Accounting - The diploma program in accounting was developed to satisfy a need of many prospective students for college credit in accounting. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the state accountancy boards of surounding jurisdictions require a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours) in accounting to be eligible to take the CPA examination. The diploma program in accounting is designed primarily for students who have a bachelor's degree and want to sit for the CPA exam. The diploma program will also assist Federal government employees who want to change their job series code to accounting. The Federal government requires 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours) of accounting courses to qualify for the General Service 510 series (accountant). The program will benefit other professionals seeking accounting skills to increase their job opportunities.

Computer Information Systems - This course of study focuses on the acquisition of computer information systems knowledge and skills. The program is designed for individuals seeking computer skills to increase their job opportunities in their current careers or to pursue new careers. The diploma program also is advantageous to students desiring early entry into the job market, preparing students for entry-level computer positions. The diploma program requires students to take twelve computer information systems courses. Within this curriculum, students have the option of choosing an emphasis in Database (Oracle Database Administrator), Database (Oracle Developer), Networking (Novell NetWare), Networking (Microsoft Windows NT), and Programming.
