NSERC André Hamer Postgraduate Prizes
Scholarship value: $10,000
This is awarded to the most outsanding candidates in Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s master’s and doctoral scholarship competitions. This award was established by Arthur McDonald, winner of the 2003 Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering, in memory of a promising young student that passed away.

Canada-Europe Award in Canadian Studies
Scholarship value: up to $10,000 based on analysis of proposed budget for research
This program supports scholars in universities or research institutions in Europe that plan on undertaking short term research, including collaborative research, contributing to the understanding of relations between Canada and this region.

This award enables commonwealth students of high intellectual promise to pursue studies in Commonwealth countries.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship Programme
Scholarship value: $10,000
Scholarships are available to graduate students in a wide variety of disciplines. This award is through the Social Science and Humanities Research Council is Canada’s funding agency for university based research and graduate training. In order to be eligible a student must have been accepted to a Ontario university, and obtained a valid student authorization.

The government of Canada Awards
Scholarship value: Full tuition, monthly living allowance (amount varies depending on home country)
These awards are to enable foreign students of high academic standing to undertake graduate studies or post doctoral research in Canadian Universities. Awards may be applied to research or studies in all areas of the arts, social sciences and humanities, commerce, the natural sciences and engineering. Proposed programmes of study must focus on a Canadian subject or include significant Canadian content.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship Program
Scholarship value: $50,000 per year for up to 3 years
This program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students to Canadian universities. Vanier scholars need to demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard scholarly achievement. Canadian and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier scholarship.

Sauvé Scholars
Scholarship value: monthly allowance of $1,000 and welcome allowance of $500
This scholarship is for students who want to study with students from diverse backgrounds for one year at Canada’s McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Students seeking this experience, which includes mentoring, advising and housing with fellow scholars, must be between 23 and 30, hold a bachelor’s degree for at least five months prior to Dec. 31 of same year and have a solid history of achievement.

Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
Scholarship value: annual stipend of $40,000
A limited number of these scholarships are available for foreign students pursing doctoral studies at Canadian institutions. Preference is given to candidates from the developing world.

Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships
Scholarship value: varies
The Rotary Foundation aims to further international understanding. The availability and kinds of scholarship vary by Rotary District. Normally applicants must have completed at least two years of university level study before the scholarship commences and apply well in advance.
