Teo Poh Ee (known as Elaine at the college) is hailed as one of the most talented scientists that her college has seen in recent years. She met all of her tutors' expectations and achieved a truly outstanding set of A-Level results this summer.
A-Level Programme Manager Erin Robinson at Bellerbys College sums up Elaine's talents perfectly: “I cannot think of any student that is as talented as Elaine in so many subjects”, says Erin. “Indeed her all-round excellence was recognised by us when she received one of only two prizes awarded to first year A-level students for excellent academic performance”.
Science teacher Paul Farquar is similarly full of praise for Elaine’s exemplary attitude and achievements. “Elaine’s understanding of all theoretical science is superb”, says Paul. “She also consistently augments her knowledge of science through extensive independent learning and wider reading”. But Elaine was never just satisfied with understanding the theoretical side of science, and has developed into an excellent practical scientist too. She is particularly interested in the study of DNA and showed great problem-solving skills during her studies in this area.
An excellent mathematician too (with an average of 98 per cent in her A2 coursework), Elaine has proved to be the perfect all-rounder during her time at college. She has shown that she is more than capable of working at a much higher standard than A-Level and we are extremely confident that she will now go on to achieve wonderful results too in her studies at Imperial College London, one of the world’s top schools in her field.
