Undergraduate degrees in the US fall into these main categories:

• Associate Degree

This is a two-year degree intended to prepare students to transfer to a four-year university or, sometimes, to prepare them to immediately begin working after graduating. Community colleges offer associate degrees.

A.A. – Associate of Arts
A.S. – Associate of Science

• Bachelor’s Degree

This is the more common undergraduate degree in the United States.

Students study a variety of courses, known collectively as the liberal arts, and focus on a specific major pathway as they progress. It generally takes four years to complete.

B.A. – Bachelor of Arts
B.S. – Bachelor of Science

It’s important to remember that you may have to sit an entrance exam at some US institutions before being accepted onto a degree.
