Choosing the Right Foundation Course
When faced with the number of foundation programmes on offer in Britain, international students can be forgiven for getting confused. For a start, there is no single standard way of classifying them. The names used range form Access Programme, Preparatory Year, Zero Year, Foundation Course, and beyond.

Specialist Degrees - Exciting Rewards
Twenty-five years ago, selecting a degree seemed simple, since choice was relatively restricted. Now the range of options for students is extensive, which brings added difficulties: should I do a traditional degree, which may not provide good job skills? Should I follow a broad-based vocational degree such as Business Studies? Should I go for a more specific direction, such as marketing? What do these 'super' specialist degrees such as Packaging Design, Food Technology or Perfumery offer?

The Benefits of Further Education in the UK
There are over 400 further education colleges spread across the UK which provide education and training for students over the age of sixteen. Further Education colleges are generally large, and can therefore offer a wide and varied choice of academic and vocational courses. The most commonly offered courses are English as a Foreign Language (EFL) courses, A Levels, AS Levels, Vocational Diplomas and pre-degree Foundation or Access programmes.

Getting Recruited - What and Where Should I Study?
Every year, thousands of people around the world make decisions about what subjects they should study, where they will find the best courses to suit them, and which vacancies they should apply for in business and industry. These decisions are fundamental, and getting them right is not always easy.

Vocational Courses in the UK

Access Courses
Independent Colleges - Access Courses
A number of independent colleges in Britain offer Access or Foundation Courses leading to entry to degree courses at British universities. These courses typically last eight to ten months, compared with up to two academic years for those taking three A-level subjects, and are examined within the colleges, so that students do not have to wait until mid-August to discover whether they have qualified for university entrance.
