Filton College, Bristol

The Location
Filton College is situated in the northern part of Bristol, the largest city in the south-west of England. It is an attractive, modern, multi-cultural city with excellent leisure facilities. Bristol is also very accessible: London is only a couple of hours away by train or coach and there are very good transport links to the rest of the country.

The College
Filton College has around 2,500 full-time students, including over 200 international students from more than 46 different countries. In September 2005 we opened a £17.5 million WISE (West of England Institute of Specialist Education) campus designed to accommodate the Bristol Academy of Sport, the South West Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Bristol School of Art. We have excellent new facilities for teaching, learning and tutorial support and guidance for students including:
  • A library and learning resource centre with state-of-the-art IT facilities
  • A new £3million A Level Centre
  • New Animal Care & Veterinary Nursing centre at the Bristol Zoo Gardens
  • Student social area, restaurants and coffee shops
  • New 250-seat theatre
  • Extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities

Extensive course choice:
Our English as a Foreign Language courses are accredited by the British Council and have an excellent reputation, preparing students for all the major EFL and Business English exams. They are taught by an enthusiastic team of well-qualified and experienced teachers. International students can also follow full-time courses alongside home students, with English language support if necessary. We offer many different A levels and an International Foundation Programme for preparation for entry to university. We also offer a wide range of vocational courses from National Diploma up to HND level, such as Art & Design, Photography, Travel & Tourism, Performing Arts and Sports Studies.

Student support:
We provide a comprehensive pre-arrival and induction programme to ensure that students are well-prepared for study in the UK. On arrival, students are allocated a personal tutor who will provide ongoing support to give the best chance of success. We also have experienced staff to help with visa issues, accommodation, careers guidance and counselling.

Social programme:
Students can choose to participate in an exciting range of day-trips, weekend visits, social events, and activities. Many of these are included in the tuition fees or are offered at greatly reduced prices.
