Description
This is a joint MSc programme between University of Reading(UoR), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki(AUTh), University Carlos III Madrid (UC3M) and Trinity College Dublin.

Objectives of the programme:
To prepare the future professionals for the digital economy to be capable of understanding the technical underpinnings and business opportunities of the new economy.

To provide in-depth study and training encompassing state-of-the-art principles and techniques in students chosen specialist e-business route. This is provided through having a set of in-depth specialist modules.

To provide students with research and development skills through a substantial research and development project undertaken in one of the participating institutions.

To provide the students with an opportunity to study in a multi-cultural environment sharing knowledge with other students from different background.

Advanced European MSc in
Network Centred Computing

Duration: Full-time 12 months, Part-time 24 months
Start Dates: February or October

Description
This is a one-year programme (or two years part time) comprising 12 taught modules followed by a six-month industry placement or research project. This MSc is run with the involvement of a consortium of European partners, and co-ordinated at Reading. There are two intakes per year, in February and in October.

Programme Content: The 12 taught modules (each module runs as an intensive week long course) in the first semester comprise a core component and options which lead to one of the following six specialisations:

  • High Performance Computing and Communication
  • Electronic Commerce
  • Software Engineering and HCI
  • Advanced Cybernetics
  • Data Communications and Networking
  • Computational Sciences

The second semester consists either of an industrial placement in a European company or a research project at an academic institution.

This course aims to provide training for Honours graduates or equivalent whose career aims include Network Centred Computing in a broad sense with focus being provided through different in-depth streams in the above-mentioned areas. The objectives are to give students broad coverage of the technological and scientific subjects required to underpin all careers in the IT field in general, providing in-depth study and training encompassing state of the art principles and techniques in the chosen specialist stream, and equipping students with research and development skills through a substantial research or R & D project with industrial and/or academic significance.
