An
excellent place to study
The University is housed on two campuses:
The lively Caerleon Campus is the main administrative
centre of the University. It has four academic schools: Humanities
& Science; Art, Media & Design; Education; and the Centre
for Community and Lifelong Learning. The site also houses hundreds
of students in its purpose built 'student village'. Although the
impressive red brick main building with its imposing clock and flagpole
was built in 1912, it is surrounded by modern purpose-built facilities
with state-of-the art equipment to meet the demands of students
studying for careers in the 21st century.
The visually striking Rathmell Building, designed
by Norman Robson Smith, was opened in 1985 to house the internationally
recognised School of Art, Media & Design. The School is renowned
for its excellent research record and it has some of the best-equipped
workshops and studios in Europe.
The second campus is based in Allt-yr-yn,
a quiet, residential area, which is just a short walk away from
Newport City Centre. Three academic schools are based on this site:
Business & Management; Social Studies; and Computing & Engineering.
Students have access to an extensive library and learning resources
centre, two refectories, an excellent language centre, student support
services, careers services and a student shop on campus.

range of clubs and societies. Whatever your interest you should
