introduction to
acoustics, audio and video

Acoustics, Audio and Video encompasses a varied choice of study within Acoustics – the science of sound and audio video production where students learn about the rapidly evolving AV technologies and their applications. With its strong ethos of high quality research, consultancy and commercial activity the department has strong links with industry. The department has invested heavily in new physical resources to deliver the programmes, including:

  • Anechoic Chambers and Transmission Suite
  • Four new Recording Studios
  • Music Technology Laboratory
  • Digital Video Suite

All undergraduate programmes have Professional Accreditation with the Association of Professional Recording Services (www.aprs.co.uk) and cover the genres of Acoustics, Audio Technology, Broadcast Sound & Video, Audio Video applications and electronics, and Audio Video Production Techniques. As most staff are research active, a wide range of postgraduate study is available either as taught programmes or by supervised research through the Acoustics Research Centre.
