The BTK Campus in Berlin is located right in the heart of this vibrant capital. On a campus of 6,500 m², students will find highly modern studios and workspaces that make possible an especially innovative study course with a practical orientation.

Study in Berlin, in the very heart of this pulsating international metropolis and center of creativity and start-ups. In terms of art, fashion, and design, Berlin rates as one of the world’s hottest “in” cities, designated by UNESCO as the “City of Design” and featured in the global network of “Creative Cities”.
The BTK University of Applied Sciences for Design is accredited by Berlin’s senate and received its institutional accreditation in 2009 from the German Council of Science and Humanities. Furthermore, all BTK degree programs are accredited by Germany’s Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA).
The application deadline for the winter semester is September 1st. For the admission procedure, we will form a selection committee consisting of at least two BTK full-time staff.

A complete application will include the following:
  1. Completed Online application form
  2. Dated and signed copies of your degree papers and transcript of records including the taken seminars/ modules and credit points (in English or German)
  3. An up-to-date résumé with your educational & professional background
  4. A portfolio or website containing at least 5 artistic or design related projects you have been actively involved in.
  5. A paper approximately five pages long (A4 or letter size) introducing a possible thesis topic to be written in English or German.
  6. Proof of English proficiency or skill level (B2 CEFR).
The admission procedure includes an approximately 45-minute personal interview and the review of your proposal and portfolio. Your knowledge of English will be tested in the interview, and you will be required to submit proof of your English-speaking ability or experience. The interview can also happen online.

  • Proof of a completed university degree qualifying you for a professional career in an art, design, or media-based area of business[1] and the appropriate bachelor’s degree for which you have gained at least 210 credits in line with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)[2].
  • Proof of sufficient knowledge of English. This is not needed for applicants who have completed their bachelor’s degree or profession-qualifying university degree in the English language.

[1] Degrees in subjects of Digital Media, Information Technology, Design, Communication Design, Media Technology, Media Science, Architecture, Interior Design, Set Design, or related subjects are suitable.
[2] You can also be accepted for the master’s degree program if you have completed your bachelor’s degree with 180 credits. The remaining 30 credits can be gained by the end of the first semester of your master’s degree program, or as an extra semester prior to starting the program.
