About Lapland University of Applied Sciences

Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Lapland UAS) is the northernmost University of Applied Sciences in Finland and in the European Union.

Lapland UAS is an institution where you can receive a high standard of education, taught in English (or Finnish if your proficiency in the language is high enough) by professors who are passionate about their subject matter.

The University of Applied Sciences is interdisciplinary, and has seven fields of expertise:

  • Natural resources and the environment
  • Culture
  • Social services, health and sports
  • Tourism, catering and domestic services
  • Social sciences, business and administration
  • Natural sciences
  • Technology, communication and transport

Each field of expertise includes several research areas that help us with our mission to provide vocational, bachelors-level education and to conduct research, development and innovation in work that directly benefits Lapland.

We have two campuses across Finland, across which our various different modes of study are carried out:

  • Tornio/Kemi
  • Rovaniemi

Lapland UAS has about 5,500 students, who graduate with versatile language skills and the capacity to meet the challenges of a changing work life and international environment.
Along with a pristine and natural living environment, Lapland UAS can offer you an unforgettable life and educational experience.

Our Programmes

Lapland UAS has four bachelors degree programmes. They are:

  • Business Information Technology
  • International Business
  • Nursing
  • Tourism

All courses last 3.5 years and are taught in English.

At Lapland UAS we pride itself on utilising new technology and implementing rapidly-evolving digitalisation into the study programmes we offer, meaning our courses are at the cutting edge of their field.

Co-operation with companies also forms a significant part of bachelors studies at Lapland UAS. We have project partners all over the world, and our students have the chance to participate in international projects and gain experience in the actual business world and simultaneously get the feeling they have contributed to something important and meaningful.

International Students at
Lapland University of Applied Sciences

The institution offers a modern and international learning environment with good services for students. Annually there are nearly 600 international students in attendance at Lapland UAS, including international degree programme students and exchange students.

An important part of our services is the tutoring system for international students. Tutors are trained to help international students with every situation that may occur during their stay at Lapland UAS, ensuring that their time here is happy and healthy as well as academically successful.
