Assisting International Students
The International Student Services Office on campus is willing to help international students with anything they need, and professors work with students to make sure they succeed.

The office is an outstanding resource for international students. The most important job of the office is ensuring that international students maintain legal immigration status while at the University. Staff members not only help international students with their paperwork and required documents, but they help guide students through their entire education experience.

Office staff also plan a variety of events for international students to help them adjust to life in the United States and to meet both international and domestic students. Events include an international fair, a soccer tournament, a lecture series and a variety of fun events and celebrations.

Additionally, the office provides the following services:
  • Orientation for new students
  • Coordinating airport pick-up for new students
  • Conducting cultural adjustment seminars, discussions, and workshops
  • Providing opportunities for service learning, leadership development and networking opportunities
  • Planning programs for students
  • Helping with verification letters to apply for a Social Security card, and/or a driver's license
  • Holding workshops on Optional Practical Training (OPT), and Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
The office also has an International Diplomat program, which connects new international students with student mentors in order to enhance the international student experience at Missouri Western. This helps the international students succeed both academically and socially.
