Canada offers International students a three-year, post-graduation work permit (PGWP) after completing a two-year diploma or four-year degree program. Students increasingly choose to stay in Canada after graduation to gain valuable work experience, which often enables many to apply for permanent residence.
Certified immigration advising is provided to all students at NAIT free of charge. Whether extending a study permit or applying for a PGWP, NAIT International Advisors provide students with correct information in a timely manner.

Work Integrated Learning, also known as an internship or a co-op program, is incorporated into most of NAIT's programs. Students gain valuable work experience for their future careers while still students, and often securing strong connections with their future employers.
In addition, Canada's student visa allows students to work part time as soon as they arrive in the country, either on or off-campus. During study breaks, such as the 4 month summer break, students can work full-time, earning while also gaining valuable Canadian work experience.

Alberta's economy, despite a recent downturn, is extremely strong. It is the only province in Canada that does not have a provincial sales tax. We pay only the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate of 5% on purchases, compared to a combined federal/provincial tax in British Columbia of 12% or in Ontario of 13%. Also, in Alberta, basic health insurance is provided to all residents, whether citizens, permanent residents or temporary residents, free of charge, with valid documentation.
NAIT's advantage is affordable tuition with a high return on your investment, and compares favorably with institutions across North America.
NAIT disburses over $5 million (CAD) in scholarships every single year. Almost all are open to international students, and some are specific to international students.
From the time of arrival at Edmonton's International Airport (YEG), students are fully supported. Staff and Peer Mentors organize workshops on the Canadian classroom, immigration pathways, host visits to local ski hills, provide academic help sessions and ensure that our Festival City is fully explored! Being a successful student is not only possible, it's fun. NAIT offers a lot of help along the journey, including student orientation, cultural events and alumni meetings to help students develop strong networking skills.
